Locations

Gypsum Recycling International now covers 5 countries with our gypsum recycling system, based on our patented technology. Every quarter new geographical areas are being added and processing facilities established.

Below we have given a short description of the activities in each of the countries in which we operate, however, please click in the box to the right and visit the local sites of our subsidiaries for further information.

Denmark

The activity in Denmark was started in 2001, and after 4 years of operation, we reached a recycling rate of 65% of the gypsum waste generated in Denmark. This is obviously the highest in the world for any voluntary system.

We have 2 processing facilities strategically located, each serving one of the two Danish plasterboard plants. All together we collect waste from several hundred collection points, consisting of public and private waste transfer stations and recycling centres, construction, reconstruction and demolition sites etc.

The new processing facility in Hobro
In 2005 we moved into our new purpose built processing facility in Hobro, located at the factory site of Danogips/Knauf. Our warehouse is 1.800 square meters (20.000 square feet), and offers the ideal conditions for effective recycling processes.
New processing facility in Hobro, DK
The Hobro processing facility handles all waste collected on mainland Jutland and the island of Funen, and is ideally located between the two biggest cities in this area, Aarhus and Aalborg.
The Hobro processing facility will form a standard after which we will construct new processing facilities in other parts of the world.
The processing facility in Kalundborg
The processing facility in Kalundborg is located in close proximity of BPB Gyproc’s Kalundborg plant, which we service with recycled gypsum powder. The Kalundborg warehouse handles all waste collected on the island of Sealand, including the capital Copenhagen and the southern part of Sweden.

Sweden

Sysav, Malmoe, Sweden
The activity in Sweden was started in 2003, where we made the first agreements with large waste facilities on the western cost of Southern Sweden. Since then the activity has been expanded to cover the entire South Swedish region from Gothenburg and Linkoping and downwards.
The several thousand tons of collected waste in Southern Sweden is transported by bulk trucks to our Danish Kalundborg facility for processing. A Swedish processing facility will be added later.

Opening in Stockholm
In the summer of 2006 a processing facility will be established in Stockholm close to the BPB Gyproc Bålsta factory, and the system will be expanded to cover all of the central part of Sweden in addition to the southern part.

The Netherlands

Lafarge Delfzijl, NL

Our activities in Holland began at the end of 2004 with the establishment of a processing facility in Delfzijl, in the Northern part of Holland, servicing the nearby Lafarge plasterboard plant.

Processing facility in Delfzijl
The system is still under establishment with more and more collection points coming on stream and by 2006 we will have reached more than 100 collection points in Holland. The customers include public recycling centres, new construction and demolition sites. Gypsum blocks as well as plasterboard is being recycled.
Belgium
With more and more customers coming on stream in Belgium, a Belgian processing facility is planned to come on stream during 2006.

USA

Based on a close cooperation with the two largest US gypsum wallboard manufacturers we have launched our recycling system in the States, with Boston as the first place where the system is activated.
USG, Boston MA
At the end of 2005 our processing facility in Boston came on stream preparing for deliveries of the recycled powder to USG, Boston MA and National Gypsum, Portsmouth NH in 2006.

In the US different from all the other countries we operate in, we will initially only handle new construction waste and not demolition waste.

More processing facilities in 2006 and beyond
As the business in the States develops we intend to open additional processing facilities in the neighbouring states, of which the first is destined to be established in 2006.
